06/07 NEWS & EVENTS:

* Jerry's 2nd Champion of Champions qualifier match has been played - AND WON - Jerry won his 2nd round match 5 v 2 against Nick Phillips (N.Essex P.L.) on Tuesday night (4th September) - the match was best of 9 frames and took place at the 317 Pub, 317 Finchley Road, kicking off at 8.30. Jerry, as the worthy winner of this match will take his place in the last 32 of this prestigious event at Gt. Yarmouth in November. *

* Jerry (Mr T) Tickell played in the Champion of Champion Singles qualifier last night (8th August), again held at The Bell. Jerry played Conrad Lewis (St.Augustine's). Our roving reporter was there to witness a best-of-9 frame match of high quality! Jerry took the 1st two frames with relative ease after a preliminary bout of cut & thrust as both players probed for weaknesses. Conrad bounced right back taking frames 3 & 4, one of which was extremely short & straightforward! Not to be outdone, Jerry proved his mettle winning frames 5 & 6, both of which were much longer, more technical and more tactical. At this point Jerry was 4-2 up needing only one more frame to win, which obviously rattled Conrad a little as a couple of errors gave Jerry the opportunity to cruise through to a 5-2 win. This isn't actually it though as Jerry has to come through a 2nd qualifier before he is guaranteed his place in the Finals *

* Unfortunately The Bell came off second best in the Champion of Champions qualifier against St. Augustine's, played on Weds 1st August, going down 8 - 6 at home in a long and closely fought match. *

The match was against St Augustines (Hammersmith & Fulham League) and was held at The Bell, 8:30 on Weds 1st August

The Champion of Champions tournament is held every year at Great Yarmouth between all the affiliated local League & Cup winners. This year it will be held 10th & 11th November.
